Family Literacy Day - Jan. 27

Today is Family Literacy Day - a national awareness initiative created by ABC Life Literacy Canada in 1999 and held annually on January 27 to raise awareness of the importance of reading and engaging in other literacy-related activities as a family.

Taking time every day to read or do a learning activity with children is crucial to a child’s development. Even just 15 minutes a day can improve a child’s literacy skills dramatically, and can help a parent improve their skills as well.

HVV Family Skate Feb. 1

Back by popular demand, our Humber Valley Winter Classic skating party is scheduled for Sunday, February 1^st from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at the Humber Valley Rink! The rink is located in HVV’s “backyard” at 50 Angelsey Blvd. 

All HVV families are invited to lace up your skates and join us during the free rink time that has been thoughtfully donated to us by the Humber Valley Hockey Association.

Each month Trustee Chris Glover hosts a Special Education Forum in Etobicoke Centre. This is an opportunity for parents to share their experiences with the special education programs in the TDSB and to work together to make improvements.
